West LA College’s 9-week class prepares students to take the state exam and earn certification for an entry level position at a hospital or nursing home. The training includes 54 hours in the classroom and 108 hours of clinical training at a local nursing facility. Students must submit to a background check, Livescan and supply a Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support card before entry into the clinical segment of the course. Angeles College prepares nursing assistant students for the role as a direct care professional in long-term, acute, and home health care facilities. As an integral part of the health care team, graduates will work under the direction of a registered nurse to promote patient comfort, safety, and restoration. The nursing assistant program at Advanced Career Institute prepares students for success on the state exam and entry-level practice in a long-term care or acute care facility in just 5 weeks. The state-approved program follows the guidelines for NA training and includes classroom lectures, skills lab, and supervised clinical experiences at a licensed nursing facility. Job Corps offers a no-cost nursing assistant training program to prepare students 16 to 24 years old for a career in health. Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, the provides enrolled students with free career and work readiness training, on-campus housing, transport, and a basic bi-weekly living allowance to cover other expenses. The nursing assistant (pre-certification) class at Monrovia Adult School trains students for a position in the field of nursing.
