CNA Classes Carrollton, TX

A certified nursing assistant wears many hats, but the primary role is to provide basic nursing care to patients and assist them with essential daily tasks that they might not be able to do on their own. In a long-term care setting, the CNA is the primary caregiver and requires personal contact with patients. These duties might include taking vital signs, bathing and dressing patients, serving meals and feeding patients, emptying bedpans, turning and repositioning patients, cleaning and sanitizing rooms, changing bed sheets, answering patient calls, observing and monitoring patients and communicating vital information to doctors and nurses, and lifting patients into wheelchairs. CNAs perform these and other duties under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse.

Caring for others is always rewarding. However, cleaning wounds, emptying bedpans, and cleaning up after the patient has an accident can be challenging for some. CNAs, like nurses, can suffer from physical injuries that range from back injuries from lifting and standing for long hours to sprains and strains. The responsibilities will be trying at times, especially if patient care is not your calling. Fortunately, nurse aide training will provide the knowledge and technical competencies to develop basic nursing skills. The programs are available in nursing homes, colleges, and vocational schools. A high school diploma may or may not be required for entry. However, criminal background clearance and drug screen will be mandatory for participation in the clinical rotation in a state licensed facility.
