CNA Classes West Haven, CT

Becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) is one of the fastest routes to a career in healthcare. A CNA provides direct care, primarily in a long-term care facility, under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. Primary duties include assisting residents with bathing, dressing, and toileting, serving meals, transfers from the bed to a wheelchair and back again, and measuring and recording vital signs. CNAs also change dressings, answer calls for help, keep proper records, and pass on critical observations to supervisors.

CNA classes prepare students with the basic medical knowledge and nursing skills to function as proficient members of the healthcare team. In addition to these essential competencies, nursing assistants must be compassionate, organized, attentive, accurate, and good communicators. While the majority of CNAs work in nursing homes, there may also be opportunities to work in hospitals, nursing homes, home health, hospice, and other health care facilities.
