Clark County Career Development Center

Clark County Career Development Center equips students with the skills they need to become CNAs in just 4 weeks. The 112.5-hour program includes 60.5 hours of interactive classes and 52 hours of clinical experience. Caring instructors emphasize the role of the nursing team and chain of command, patient quality of life, patients’ rights, confidentiality, emergency procedures, recognize and report signs of abuse, effective communication, understand the dying process, nutrition and promoting good dietary health. The tuition is $775 plus a $75 application fee. Tuition includes personal coaching, HIV/AIDS training, refreshments, graduation party, CPR/First Aid training, personal equipment, and open lab practice hours. Northwest Nursing Assistant Certified Training

Through 120 hours of classroom and clinical training, Northwest Nursing Assistant Certified Training prepares students for the state exam and an entry-level CNA career. Applicants must pass a criminal background check, TB test, and an entrance exam if they don’t have a high school diploma. Day and evening classes are available. The cost of training is $695 plus the $70 application fee. The tuition includes personal tools, such as a gait belt, stethoscope, AHA Healthcare Provider CPR, AHA First Aid, HIV/AIDS training, and free TB testing. Other costs include a criminal background check, textbooks, navy blue scrubs and BP cuffs. NW Nursing Assistant Training is an approved testing site, so students can take the test after graduating from the course.

Clark College

Acquire the basic nursing skills you need to succeed as a nursing assistant. Clark College nurse assistant training is a 10-credit hour program that comprises of classroom and clinical training; 66 classroom hours and 66 clinical hours. Students learn how to behave in a professional and ethical manner, utilize skills to promote quality patient care, identify and implement safety and emergency procedures, and successfully pass the nurse aide competency exam. Course topics include nursing skills, HIV/AIDS, infection control, communication, personal care, anatomy, vital signs, feeding, and nutrition. Applicants must be 18 years or older, possess a high school diploma (recommended), prove proof of a 2-step TB test, pass a criminal background check, and attend the mandatory orientation class. Graduates are eligible to take the state certification exam for employment in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.

Classes last 5 to 7 weeks, depending on the schedule – morning and evening schedules are available. Applicants must pass a criminal background check and drug screen. Space is limited, so students are admitted based on a strict qualifying process that may include an interview.
