Course topics include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, basic nursing skills, rehabilitative and restorative skills, infection control, legal and ethical principles, promoting resident independence and rights, mental health, personal care, measuring vital signs, communication and professionalism, and care for the dying. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the state evaluation to become certified nursing assistants. The duration of the class is 6 weeks. The clinical rotation will commence during the fifth week of class.

Golden Age Healthcare Training

The 12-day Certified Nursing Assistant course at Golden Age Healthcare Training is approved by the state of Georgia. The school offers evening and weekend classes, well-equipped skills labs, and on-site testing. Students will participate in lively classroom sessions and continuous hands-on practice before commencing the clinical rotation as a skilled nursing facility. The theory and practical sessions will prepare students for success on the state exam. The training will also set a foundation for advanced study to become a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. The day class meets Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm for 12 days including 4 clinical days. The evening class meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm for 18 days including 6 clinical days. A weekend class meets Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm for 12 days.

Woodruff Medical Training and Testing

The Nursing Assistant Program at Woodruff Medical Training and Testing emphasizes the development of skills need to provide safe and competent care. The training sessions are interactive and in-depth as knowledgeable instructors cover basic nursing skills and safety in care. The total program includes 96 hours of classroom theory and clinical practice – 72 hours in the classroom and lab and 24 hours in a skilled nursing facility. Areas of study include infection control, basic nutrition, bed making, resident safety, communication and interpersonal relationships, assisting residents with daily care, patient bill of rights, human sexuality, transferring patients, measuring vital signs, emergency care, and ambulation. Students will learn the clinical aspects of nursing in long-term care. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the state certification exam and have the educational foundation for nursing school. Day and evening schedules are available to accommodate students who must balance educational goals with work or family commitments. The day program can be completed in 4 weeks and the evening program has a completion time of 6 weeks.

FAKS Allied Health Center

The CNA training at FAKS Allied Health Center combines theory and practical instruction to prepare students for the Georgia State Certification Exam. Students will acquire basic nursing skills to care for residents in long-term care facilities. Course topics include total patient care, measuring vital signs, CPR/First Aid, resident rights, infection control, patient safety, communication and interpersonal relationships, basic nursing skills, medical terminology, death and dying, and rehabilitative treatments. Day, evenings, and weekend classes are available. The duration of the program is 4 weeks to 7.5 weeks depending on the schedule.

Free training and job training may be available for eligible students.

Proactive Medical Training Center

The Nursing Assistant training at Proactive Medical Training Center is specifically targeted to pregnant individuals and high school dropouts who want to prepare for a career in health. Students will acquire the skills to care for residents in nursing homes, hospitals, and private homes. Upon successful completion of the program, they will be eligible to sit for the State Nurse Aide evaluation to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Georgia State Approved Assistance is available for students 18 and over.

Sanzie Healthcare Services

Sanzie Healthcare Services, INC. facilitates a CNA training program that is approved by the state of Georgia. The training provides a sound education in the areas of CPR/First Aid, basic nursing skills, infection control, nutrition, communication and interpersonal relationships, measuring vital signs, anatomy and physiology, personal hygiene, promoting residents’ rights, safety and emergency procedures, and mental health. The curriculum covers 85 hours of instruction including 24 hours of clinical rotation in a nursing home. An experienced registered nurse instructor will guide students through patient care activities and support the development of basic nursing skills. The duration of the program is 5 weeks to 2 semesters based on the schedule. Graduates must take and pass the competency exam, including the written/oral and skills components to be included on the Georgia Nurse Aide Registry.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program at Atlanta Career Institute (ACI) is approved by the Georgia Health Partnership. Graduates will be eligible to take the Georgia State Exam for state certification. Due to the commitment of the experienced instructors, program graduates have achieved a high pass rate on the state exam. Instruction will include 85 hours of classroom lectures, hands-on lab, and supervised patient care experiences in a skilled nursing facility. Students will learn how to bathe, feed, and dress patients, observe patients and report adverse reactions to the nurse or physician, promote resident rights and independence, measure and record vital signs, make beds, prepare and serve meals, ensure patient safety, and assist nurses with rehabilitative treatments. The state exam is conveniently offered at ACI’s facility providing a familiar environment for students to take the written/oral and skills components of the exam.
