CNAs in Oregon can obtain two levels of certification administered by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. However, candidates must receive training from an accredited institution before registering for the state exam. The Oregon State Board of Nursing requires CNA training programs to provide 150 hours of training including a minimum of 75 hours supervised clinical training. Candidates, who completed training in another state, must complete a minimum of 75 hours of training in Oregon to become eligible for the state certification exam. Nurse aides must complete the first level of training and obtain certification before attempting the CNA II Certification. Oregon certified nursing assistants must also obtain certification to administer medicine to patients. Accredited medication aide training programs followed by the state exam prepare CNAs to function as certified medication aides (CMAs).
