CNA Classes Fairfax, VA

Rising health care demands places Certified Nursing Assistants among the fastest growing jobs in healthcare and across the board. CNAs work primarily in long-term care providing bedside care and assisting patients with the activities of daily living under the strict supervision of a licensed nurse. The Virginia Department of Health requires candidates for certification to complete an approved training program and pass the State Nurse Aide Exam.

CNA classes must align with federal and state guidelines for nurse aide education. Those who complete the requirements will understand the role and responsibilities of the nurse aide, recognize changes in patients’ social and emotional health and make timely interventions, apply the principles of safety in practice, respect patients’ rights, confidentiality, and privacy, have basic communication skills, have knowledge of patient abuse and neglect, and be able to function independently or collaborate with the health care team when needed.

Training typically focuses on long-term care but nurse aides may also work in patients’ homes, nursing homes, adult day care, and clinics.
